From: Angela Wier, Board Chair
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the upcoming departure of Meghann Bridgeman. Meghann has served as CEO of Create Birmingham since early 2021. In January, Meghann will join The Alabama Department of Commerce as Director of the Alabama Film Office. We are excited for Meghann and know she will make a significant impact for all of Alabama.
Under Meghann’s exceptional and innovative leadership, Create Birmingham achieved significant milestones that strengthened our mission, and expanded our reach. Her passion and dedication to empowering the creative sector in Birmingham strengthened the community and the organization.
“Meghann is a visionary leader. She brought both innovation and compassion to Create Birmingham. Her ability to elevate the organization’s programs and foster collaboration across the arts community set a new standard for success. We are grateful for all she has done and wish Meghann the best in her new role.”
— Angela Wier, Board President
Create Birmingham remains committed to investing in economic development that strengthens the nonprofit and commercial creative sectors. These sectors include the performing arts, visual arts, culture, media, and design. As we look to the future, we are excited to build upon the strong foundation Meghann established and to continue advancing our mission.
To ensure a smooth transition, the Board of Directors established an Executive Search Committee. The Committee retained Dr. Melva Tate of Tate Associates Strategic Consulting to conduct a thorough and thoughtful search for our next CEO. Dr. Tate’s expertise will guide us as we seek a leader who will continue to drive innovation and growth at Create Birmingham.

In the interim, Jessica Moody, Director of Programs & Operations and a long-time member of our team, will step in as Interim CEO. Jessica’s extensive experience and deep commitment to Create Birmingham will provide continuity and stability during this time of transition.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Meghann for her outstanding service and look forward to the exciting new chapter ahead for Create Birmingham.
Sincerely,
Angela Wier
