CO.WORK

CO.WORK offers subsidized shared office and meeting space located at Forge Coworking Space, owned by CO.STARTERS graduate Kim Lee, at The Pizitz.

PROCESS

  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis over the course of the two-year pilot program, but space is limited.
  • Complete the application form below after carefully reviewing the guidelines.
  • A follow-up meeting will be scheduled by staff to discuss your application and evaluate your needs. Additional materials may be requested.

ELIGIBILITY

CO.WORK is open to CO.STARTERS graduates with service-based ventures in the start-up or business phase who missed no more than two classes during their CO.STARTERS course and participated in the Celebration Night presentation.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

Create Birmingham will underwrite Forge Coworking memberships for CO.WORK participants for a minimum of six months, with the possibility of extension based on space availability.

CO.WORK participants must cover membership orientation and parking costs. CO.WORK participants must also agree to participate in a cooperative marketing campaign, three and six-month check-ins, and selected educational and networking opportunities for CO.STARTERS graduates.

Support for CO.SHOP and CO.WORK is provided by a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.

  • Example: My typical customer is female, early 30's, married, and has a young family. She is a fellow entrepreneur trying to manage the growth of her business. She has big ideas but not a lot of time. She knows that she needs to capitalize on her social media following and connect with her subscribers.
  • Example: She schedules her social media posts when she can and when she remembers. She sends occasional emails using generic templates. She uses Canva to generate social media images.
