Birmingham’s Poet Laureate names Poet Fellows for community reading initiative

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The City of Birmingham’s Poet Laureate Salaam Green has nominated two women to serve as the community’s poet fellows. Karima Moore will serve as the inaugural Youth Poet Fellow and Maati Sanovia will serve as the inaugural Adult Poet Fellow. The duo will work with two Birmingham Public Library branches to facilitate poetry programming to support literacy and summer reading initiatives. City of Birmingham Community Arts Grant Portal Opens

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Create Birmingham, in partnership with the City of Birmingham, is pleased to announce the third year of the City of Birmingham Community Arts Grant Program. This past Monday Bessemer’s Public Library hosted the Create Birmingham’s Co.Starters Bessemer program.   This particular event celebrated recent graduates of a ten week entrepreneurial cohort initiative.
