Over this four-night course, Jessica Russell will work with you on your throwing technique & build upon the skills learned in the beginner's class. You will learn different techniques to get closer to creating the forms that you envision and how to attach pieces together to add accents to your work. Kids 12 and up are welcome if signed up with an adult. The studio will have everything you need for class.

Learn the basic skills of screen printing in our print studio. This workshop provides a casual, fun introduction to the materials and processes you use to use silkscreen for printing, including a brief look at how screens are created, how to select and mix inks, and how to make a smooth print onto paper and fabric. Don't worry, we'll have all the materials needed for class, all you'll need is yourself & your creativity. In the meantime, you can start preparing your design!

Join our fun and engaging small group keyboard class designed for elementary students! With only 4 students per class, each child receives personalized attention from our experienced instructor. Students will learn the layout of the keyboard, basic music theory, and how to play simple songs. They will also be introduced to reading sheet music and developing proper techniques all while participating in interactive activities and performance opportunities. This class is perfect for young beginners eager to explore the world of music in a friendly and supportive setting. Artist Bio: Ahmun Miles, a classically trained pianist from Birmingham/Bessemer, Alabama, brings over 18 years of musical expertise to her students as the owner and head instructor of Piamistry. An accomplished musician, Miles is a member of the Birmingham Music Teachers Association and the National Federated Music Club, earning superior and excellent ratings in music theory and performance. With a background in Music Theory and Performance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she has been recognized as a Steinway and Sons Educational Partner and was named Samford University Lecturer of the Year in 2023.

Part Town Hall, Part improvised parody.

Real issues and questions are fielded by comedians playing the roles of absent elected officials in this improvised live game show version of a TOWN HALL!

Comedians have come together to take the reins of the absurdity of our current political moment and create a hilarious and cathartic town hall event. 

Alabama native and internationally touring performer Matt Davis (MattDavisComedy.com) debuts a brand new show that addresses the current moment head on. 

Designed in the vein of other Fringe Arts Festival shows Matt has produced, the format combines interactive elements and improvised lines with an almost game show-esque excitement to parody the spectacle and dismissiveness on display between elected officials and the people they seem loath to represent. 

An expert cast of improvisers are thrown in the game to represent the absent, empty chair, elected officials. Through a series of rounds the comedians lend their voice to the missing officials, and answer real questions and concerns posed by the audience. But! The comedians must toe-the-line that “everything is great” in all their responses. That is, if they wish to receive points from our host, Mr. Dark Money himself. The audience, however, is here to win, too! And they boo and jeer on queue, amid ridiculous answers, blatant sponsorships, redemption groveling, surprise guests, and other wild happenings. 

All together it turns our town hall parody into a hilarious evening of improvised comedy, and real community catharsis! Grab your civic-minded friends, or those you think need to be inspired to get involved, and meet us April 30th at Saturn in Avondale for what we hope is the first of many wild and funny nights.

Please join us for the 43rd Annual CCA Crawfest on May 1st at The Birmingham Zoo. This event includes a silent auction with over 100 items, adult and children's raffle packages, trips, an open bar, live music, and a Cajun buffet (Crawfish, Shrimp, and more). 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will stay in Alabama to help the Coastal Conservation Association with their conservation projects on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Yoga strengthens and tones the body, promoting balance and flexibility while quieting the mind. Railroad Park’s yoga class welcomes participants at all experience levels.

We will teach two classes, beginner Waltz and beginner East Coast Swing.  The Waltz class will be taught first, and will include Waltz partnership skills, basic timing, dancing to Waltz music, and several Waltz figures including left and right turns.

East Coast Swing is a fun social dance that is easily danced to rock and roll and other popular music.  Several basic figures will be taught.

The goal of both of these classes is to enable the students to dance Waltz and East Coast Swing in a social setting.
