COFFEE WITH CREATIVES

Join us on Friday May 10th at Miles College’s C.A. Kirkendoll Learning Resources Center for another Coffee with Creatives! Our in-person morning meet-up with Birmingham’s creative community will take place from 8:30 – 10:00 am and is free to the public. During this meet-up attendees will have the opportunity to view Roots and Renaissance: An African American Journey Through Art. This exhibition was curated by the Fairfield Black Art Collective, and features work from members of the collective and area artists.

Brew new ideas, forge collaborations, and hear insight from artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.

This program will also include a moderated conversation with Erika Mixon, Ebone’ Gilbert, and Lillis Taylor on how artists can partner with universities to have gallery space. Erika and Ebone’ are the co-founders and co-executive directors of the Fairfield Black Art Collective. Lillis Taylor is a Birmingham visual and textile artist and the co-founder of Bib & Tucker Sew-Op.

Lillis is also the creator of Tré Lilli and Lillisew and her exhibition, “I’d rather sew than eat or a lot of other things,” was recently held at UAB’s Department of Art and Art History.
