Officially launched in June 2017, Film Birmingham is a one-stop shop for creators of film and media projects, showcasing the impressive diversity of locations and talent that our region has to offer.
Film Birmingham, an initiative of Create Birmingham in partnership with the City of Birmingham, serves as a local film office for the greater Birmingham region. The primary goal of Film Birmingham is to attract new commercial, television, and feature film projects to the Birmingham area as a strategy for workforce and economic development.
The new Film Birmingham website serves as the resource hub for information related to filming in Birmingham. It is a central location where filmmakers can find location options, crew bios, and resources such as permits, forms, and tax incentive details.
Through Film Birmingham, Create Birmingham helps filmmakers efficiently meet their production needs and tackle their production challenges. We connect them with the abundance of local film and media talent in our area, assist with public and private location logistics, and facilitate municipal cooperation in the region.
In addition to being a dynamic and hospitable place to do business, Birmingham offers low production costs and a diverse selection of both urban and rural locations, making this an exciting opportunity to grow our local economy and raise our national profile.
Film Birmingham is offered in partnership with the City of Birmingham and with the generous support of community partners including the Alabama Power Foundation, the Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation, the Hugh Kaul Foundation, the Robert R. Meyer Foundation, and the Susan Mott Webb Charitable Trust.
